The “Trouble” with Truth
The Pharisees resisted it … Pontus Pilate was “trapped by it” …
Saul Of Tarsus wrestled with it, fought against it. Simon Peter had a revelation of it … TRUTH
Humanly speaking, without the Grace Of God we fight against Truth because it confronts us … and yes, condemns us as lost, and “wanting” that is dependent on the Mercy of God in Christ for redemption and forgiveness … (Romans 3)
Look at the human reaction to truth … Divine Truth, the only … Truth
Truth is:
Insistent … you can grapple with it, fight against, argue with it, but truth is truth and it doesn’t yield to the demands of Man.
Inconvenient … when we want it to compliment us, endorse us, it will not if we are not “walking in Truth”. It is frustrating too, when we want the plaudits of man, his favour and friendship, when, suddenly a question is raised about morality or spirituality and truth declares our esteemed friend as ‘darkened’ or ‘lost’ and if unrepentant bound for a darkened Eternity … how inconvenient, what a nuisance to “remain” friends we are sorely tempted to compromise truth. We can discolour truth, but it never changes with our whims and desires.
Impartial … oh yes whatever our “station” … wherever we come in the estimation of man, truth doesn’t bow the knee to anyone.
Implacable … unchanging, uncompromising, and the more we fight against it, truth is like a monolith, refusing to back down or back off. It won’t give in to our demands.
And yet … and yet …
If we embrace it, truth sets us free … It releases us, and opens the path before us that, shines more and more … and still, more … Unto the Perfect Day
Oh! One thing more … because of the subtlety of Satan’s deception because of his ally, in our carnal disposition and nature, we need the ongoing inspiration, revelation and instruction of The Holy Spirit. “He will lead you into all Truth …”
