DANGERS AHEAD … WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO ???
It is an undeniable fact that we live in the “perilous times” The Bible predicts 2 Timothy 3;1. The Bible lists a range of horrendous attitudes and dispositions that will cause chaos in interpersonal relationships and indeed, within the home, the Nation at large and Internationally. All beginning with The infatuation with Self … “men will be lovers of their own selves”.
After this blanket statement there is a list of detailed dispositions that spring from the Sin of “Self Love”. If there is one devious disposition of our present day it’s found further in that chapter, verse 4 “lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God”. This is the most graphic description of modern day Idolatry, the Cult of Self Indulgence to the exclusion of any and all allegiance to Almighty God.
One of the hallmarks of a true Christian conversion is that when it comes to our lives, “It is no longer I that lives, but Christ that lives in me” Galatians 2;20. The life of sin, governed by the flesh is the opposite. Christ is denied, thwarted and restricted by the obsession with Self so, in these days of self love and self indulgence we have the key to being free from worldliness which is selfishness.
The Flesh life cannot be accommodated … “the flesh profits nothing” quite the opposite. It is totally and absolutely detrimental to a life lived in the Spirit.
The “crucifixion of the flesh” is the breaking of the cycle of self and sin that deadens us and kills off a sensitivity to The Spirit of God and His glorious freedoms and blessings. When the soul has the upper hand and sin prevails, the will of God cannot be fulfilled in our lives. A life addicted to self is paving the way for dark influences and even delusion, there is a resistance to the working of The Spirit and The Word of God.
We are fortified and safe guarded in our soul when we walk “circumspectly, not as fools” especially in these last days of encroaching darkness.
“Walking in the Light” is the hallmark of righteousness, freedom, and … fruitfulness in the service of God.
